Alignment Design
The foundation for all road design is a thoroughly designed alignment. Alignments are designed efficiently and with ease using Novapoint. Several flexible functions give the user total freedom to find the optimal horizontal and vertical geometry. The user interface with full integration towards Autodesk Map gives a modern approach to alignment design. Because the design of the horizontal geometry is integrated with the vertical one, the road designer is given complete control over the resulting alignment they constitute. Road Design
The shaping of the road surfaces are defined in the Road Design interface. Parametrical design of road surfaces, road pavement, sodding, road bed, subgrade and closed drainage give a complete representation of the road. The road designer is given full control over the way that the road is able to adapt to the landscape. Being able to adapt to the terrain surface with ditch, rock cut, soil cut and fill being handled automatically by the program with parameters defined by the user. Analysis of sight distance and quantities can be performed efficiently. The cross-section viewer gives valuable information during the design process. The measurement of width, distance, slope and coordinates can be supervised. Any adjustment can be displayed immediately in the cross-section viewer. Several predefined report formats for quantity and setting out data is available. Digital setting out data for survey equipment can be generated.
Vehicle Track Analysis
A new tool for vehicle track analysis has been made. Standard vehicles are predefined with adjustable parameters. The vehicle path can be defined from lines in the drawing or from following the crosshair, thus allowing the user to simulate their desired driving pattern in the drawing. When a path is defined vehicles can be drawn along the path or an animation can be played.
Drawing Generator
Standard cross-sections. Cross-sections, plan and profile are generated based on data from the road model.
Visualization
A 3D grid model with the designed road and terrain surface is drawn as base for visualisation. The road surface groups are separated into different layers. The road surfaces are also given different colours so the user can easily distinguish between the different road surfaces. A predefined configuration for Virtual Map has been made to match the new layer structure. With this the user can make a Virtual Map presentation with a few mouse clicks.
